We’ve been listening, and we know a lot people already think rail is a good thing. But beyond laying rails, a lot of thinking is needed. With you, we want to explore and imagine, in many communities around the province, designs and strategies to harvest the benefits of light rail stations, with transit-oriented development, local transportation to and from the train (the last mile) and the operation of feeder systems, to demonstrate the difference that public transit can make to the lives of Nova Scotians. This could be transformational: it will enable sustainable growth, positively impact the health of Nova Scotians, improve housing affordability, provide economic benefits throughout the province, and be key to meeting Nova Scotia’s climate change goals.
